Day 1: Arrival in Bilbao – Welcome to the Basque Country
Arrive in Bilbao, where a private transfer brings you to the Radisson Collection Bilbao or similar. Settle in before joining your small group for a welcome dinner featuring seasonal Basque specialties and crisp txakoli wine.
Day 2: San Juan de Gaztelugatxe – Coastal Hike & Traditional Lunch
A scenic drive along the northern coast leads to the island sanctuary of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. A rewarding hike climbs to its cliff-top chapel, where sea views stretch endlessly. Lunch follows at a seaside restaurant known for Basque classics. Return to Bilbao for a relaxed evening.
Day 3: Into La Rioja – E-Bike Wine Adventure
Travel south into the heart of La Rioja. Today’s e-bike route winds through sunlit vineyards, pausing for tastings at two boutique wineries. Lunch is served at or after the final tasting, followed by check-in at the Eurostars Los Agustinos in Haro or similar. Dinner is arranged nearby, paired with fine Rioja wines.
Day 4: Hiking & Heritage in Wine Country
Begin the morning with a gentle hike among rolling hills and vineyards, then visit a nearby town to learn about Rioja’s heritage and evolving winemaking traditions. Lunch unfolds outdoors among the vines — grilled lamb chops cooked over grapevine cuttings. Enjoy a free evening in the village, ideal for wandering or a glass of crianza under the stars.
Day 5: Toward San Sebastian – Cheese, Coast & City Lights
Enjoy a leisurely start before heading north. En route, stop at a traditional cheesemaker’s farm to sample artisanal Basque cheeses. Continue to San Sebastian and check into the Catalonia Donostia Hotel or similar. This evening, join your guide for a walking pintxos tour — your first taste of the city’s vibrant bar culture.
Day 6: San Sebastian – E-Bike City Ride & Cooking Class
Explore the city by e-bike, tracing La Concha Bay and the elegant boulevards that define San Sebastian’s charm. Later, meet a local chef for a market visit and hands-on Basque cooking class, preparing regional dishes paired with local wines. The afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy at leisure.
Day 7: Getaria Excursion – Anchovies, Seafood & Cider House
Begin with a short coastal hike before continuing to Getaria, a fishing port famed for its anchovies. Visit a local factory to taste the region’s prized catch, followed by a seafood lunch by the harbor. In the evening, dine together in a lively cider house — rustic, hearty, and unmistakably Basque.
Day 8: French Basque Coast – Seaside Hike & Farewell Lunch
Your final adventure follows the coastal path toward St. Jean de Luz in the French Basque Country. Panoramic Atlantic views set the scene for a celebratory lunch at a Basque gastronomic club, shared with music, wine, and new friends. Return to San Sebastian for a relaxed final evening.
Day 9: Departure
Private transfers are provided to San Sebastian (EAS) or Bilbao (BIL) airports, or to the San Sebastian train station.
